SEO, or search engine optimisation, is the process by which Google rank and return everything you publish within your digital marketing. (Other search engines are available!)

Having SEO copy on your website allows Google’s bots to read and understand each web page.

Their guidelines need to be part of your overall SEO strategy, and these are all about the reading experience of your visitors as well as the keywords within the copy.

If you use an SEO copywriter to produce your webpage copy, you are much more likely to get returned in organic searches.  This means more traffic to your website, which in turn will mean more enquiries/sales.

What AEO/SEO website copywriting means

The key to SEO copywriting is knowing how to include a main keyword and related keywords within the text.

Each page should have a unique, to your website, primary keyword as well as a number of other related keywords.

Keyword research is based on the most popular search terms, the frequency that term is used in searches, amongst other factors.

The keywords used in your SEO copywriting must be used in certain places and within a certain keyword density.

The primary keyword for each website page must also be used in the meta description both for the page and for any images appearing on it.

Internal links are also part of SEO copywriting, as are external links.

Structuring your copy for AEO is a little like writing an executive summary at the start of a business report.  AI programmes want the answer in one paragraph where possible.

You do but as though you are talking to the reader.

Ask questions to engage them.  Explain everything as though you were speaking to them in person, rather than just presenting your offering to a faceless audience.

You do.  The truth is people are searching both through browsers (as they always have) and through AI software.  Keywords are still incredibly important and should still be used correctly.

Each page on your website should have a different focused keyword.

Each service should be on a separate page – you’ve never known anyone simply search for ‘services’ have you?

Your primary keyword should be used in the first sentence, last sentence, main title and at least one sub-heading, as well as elsewhere throughout.

Do not ‘keyword stuff though’ or you’ll be penalised.
