Would being an Award Winning Business feel fantastic?
Winning awards is great for marketing and builds trust with prospective customers.
Raspberry Flamingo have an outstanding track record of writing award entries which get our clients through to the final!
There are numerous benefits for winning awards.
It provides a huge boost to internal morale…
It is marketing gold…
And potential customers will automatically have more trust in an award winning business as they feel it provides strong evidence that the business is one of the best in its marketplace.
Many businesses include an awards strategy in their business and marketing plans for the three reasons above.
We cannot stress strongly enough how important it is to select awards carefully.
A scattergun approach seldom works.
Think about your industry sector, business size and age, and then your local area.
There will be local, national, and international awards for your business type.
There are also awards for new businesses (usually under three years old) and for different sizes of business.
If you have an industry institute or accreditation body, they will often run annual awards.
Chambers of Commerce also have annual awards for their members to enter.
Local councils may run business awards, as will some Government departments.
Then there are local, national, and international organisations such as the Federation of Small Businesses and a whole host of others.
There is no shortage of business awards to enter once you start looking for them.
When you see an award you think might be a great fit for your business, firstly check the deadline date. You need a few weeks to be able to pull a successful submission together.
For each award there will be a summary of what the judging panel will be looking for in each award category.
Consider this information very carefully. You need to be able to meet ALL the criteria, not just some of it if you want to stand a chance of being a finalist.
Then have a look at any information given on the award judges.
Doing a little research on them at this early stage can often provide you with some intelligence on what they might personally consider to be important in a business award entry.
Next comes the application process. Look at the application form in detail. Really digest what each question is asking for in terms of evidence.
Some application forms simply ask for one answer – essay format.
Others ask many different questions, each requiring an answer.
Whichever way the form is structured, there will be a maximum word count for each answer.
Additional evidence can sometimes be submitted alongside the entry form. This is often an extract from your business plan, customer testimonials or case studies, organisational diagrams, etc.
If you do decide to enter an award, please give yourself enough time to prepare your submission – don’t leave it until the last minute.
This is a service where you would always work directly with Claire as she is very experienced in writing winning award entries. All but one have been selected as finalists.
Because Claire can look at your business and the way it operates from an outside perspective, she often sees innovations and unique ways of working that you simply view as everyday operations and nothing special.
It is also very difficult to sing your own praises. (For most people anyway!)
Claire will ask you lots of questions… about things you may never have even considered to be relevant… the more information she has, the better the business award entry will be.
Possibly one of the most important things to note is that if Claire does not believe you meet the criteria for an award, she will be honest with you. But if you do, she will make you and your business sound amazing!
